  • Affected lot: 7000636A

  • Distribution: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Ontario and Quebec

How to check

The lot number is printed on the pen and on the carton. If yours does not read 7000636A, this recall does not apply to your pen. If it does, do not stop on your own: call your pharmacist or prescriber, and direct questions about the recall to Apotex. Side effects can be reported to Health Canada.

Same molecule, different device

The recall concerns a pen's dose display, not the semaglutide inside it. Ozempic and Wegovy use different pens made by Novo Nordisk, and Health Canada's notice does not name them. A generic and a brand-name pen contain the same active ingredient, but the device, the dose steps and the price differ, which is why we track them separately.
